Contest[poetry].hoursLeft--; // ActionScript Poetry entries due by midnight

As announced last month, your ActionScript Poetry entries must be submitted by midnight tonight to be considered in this year's annual poetry contest. After a late start, the competition is suddenly hot.

As you've probably noticed by now, one of the entries, Satori Canton's translation of William Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, has already

become a hit on the rest of the net — links to the poem were all over the MXNA blog aggregator and Digg.com yesterday. Congrats to Satori and all others brave enough to step up and submit their efforts.

The submision window closes at midnight (eastern time) tonight, so get your verse on quick and submit them here! Good luck!

ActionScript laureates have one day left to enter contest

I won't pretend we've had a resounding number of entries in this year's ActionScript Poetry contest (we've had one (1) so far), but I have to say that what we've lacked in quantity, we've made up for in quality: So far, the entry(ies) is/are great!

Take a look at the official submission thread

to see the entries so far, and then add your own! The one submission we've had so far is certainly good enough to stand up to competition, but it would be a shame to let it win by default. Come on, scripters, this is your turn to use a little poetic license and show the world you're capable of more than just working code!

Thanks, and have fun!

ActionScript Poetry contest submissions due next week

Just a quick reminder… You've got until Tuesday to submit your candidates for "Best Absurd Use of ActionScript To Describe a Literary Work." We had a lot of fun with this last year, and I hope to see more

great submissions this week. See last month's announcement for rules and guidelines.

Thanks, and we look forward to the vote!

“Creepy Carl” banished from Turdhead.com servers

It was a rough weekend for Turdhead.com: The absurd popularity of our latest Flash game, Guess Which Hand, caused the server to crap itself early Friday, and as I was out of town over the weekend, there was little to do but watch it happen. As of this morning, however, I've banished Creepy Carl (the dubious star of the game) to another server (known hereafter as Turdhead.net), to keep the load off this one.

High score reporting has been suspended for now (no big deal, perhaps, as nobody has managed to get more $2.75 from the little bastitch since last week, anyway), but expect it to return soon. Meanwhile, I'll be playing around behind the curtain to make sure this doesn't happen every month we introduce a new game here.

Thanks for your patience, and enjoy the "somewhat lamer yet" game.

Shameless begging, panhandling and soul-sucking indignity

Want to show your appreciation for Turdhead.com, its products or services? Although it's certainly not necessary, we'd be pleased as punch if you felt like donating any amount you'd like, or even if you just wanted to give us a nod on Digg.com. Honestly, we have no pride whatsoever (the name of the site is Turdhead.com, after all), and we'll take any recognition we can get for our efforts here.
